Hot Rolls and Ann Pillsbury
If you look closely at this 1947 ad for Pillsbury Hot Roll Mix, you’ll see it’s signed by Ann Pillsbury. After her introduction in the late 1920s, Betty Crocker was such a success that other companies, such as Pillsbury, created similar fictional characters to dole out baking advice.
While Betty is still around, “Ann Pillsbury” didn’t keep her job for long.
